Ohio Educational Technology Conference Event Branding

Project Overview

Under Pressure

When KRAM & Associates was awarded the seventeenth annual OETC in 2015, the production plan allowed three months to build the conference visual system. Content for the branding, guidebook, environmental signage, mobile app graphics, and supporting materials instead arrived during the final month.

The event was already committed, thousands of attendees were registered, and the deadline remained fixed. The assignment became a test of art direction, visual design, rapid production management, editorial hierarchy, and large-scale event consistency under an unusually compressed schedule.

Project Goal

Deliver a complete, recognizable conference communication system under an extreme production timeline without sacrificing clarity or consistency.

Deliverables

Conference Identity, Guidebook, Environmental Signage, Workshop Graphics, Mobile App Assets, Advertising, Exhibitor Prospectus, Supporting Event Communications.

Design Approach

OETC brought together more than 4,000 attendees and over 5,500 total participants, with more than 200 exhibitors, keynote and featured speakers, workshops, a trade show floor, and a mobile app supporting the conference experience. Every communication layer needed to work together despite radically different content density and physical scale.

The design system had to move quickly without looking rushed. Editorial pages required disciplined information hierarchy, environmental graphics needed instant recognition, workshop signage had to guide movement, and mobile assets had to translate the same conference identity into a smaller digital format.

With the schedule compressed to one month, production discipline became part of the creative solution. Consistency, prioritization, and fast decision-making kept a large family of deliverables moving toward the same fixed event date.
